La Romana
La Romana

La Romana is located on the south-eastern coast of the Dominican Republic and today is nothing like it once was. Originally La Romana was mainly home to cattle farms and visitors were not seen there, however, it is now one of the most popular resorts in this area.
 La Romana Amphitheatre
Holidaymakers can enjoy several different activities in La Romana although without doubt the favourite destination is the beach. The most popular being La Minitas, which is a small beach and lagoon that can be reached by golf cart or shuttle bus. You can rent a golf cart at the nearby resort.  Other beaches for your La Romana experience could be the large crescent shaped beach at Bayahibe or, if you prefer a more secluded beach where you can also enjoy diving, then you will need to take a short 45-minute boat ride to Catalina Island.
La Romana Altos de Chevon village
The Altos de Chavon, near to La Romana, is one attraction that draws visitors worldwide. The Altos de Chavon is a rebuilt Mediterranean style village from the 15th century. The village overlooks the Chavon River and the Caribbean Sea and is set high on a majestic cliff. The entire village has visitors marvelling at the terracotta brick buildings as they spend time shopping and browsing in the craft workshops, shops and galleries. Not to mention taking time out to enjoy the delicious Dominican cuisine at the restaurants found whilst strolling along the cobblestone paths. Many La Romana Tours take you to the beautiful village of Altos de Chavon and to the performing arts complex and the open-air amphitheatre. The amphitheatre has seen concerts by performing artists such as Julio Iglesias and is the host of the Heineken Jazz Festival
Views of La Romana
Diving in La Romana and especially at Catalina Island will give experienced divers an opportunity to see larger fish such as multi-coloured fluorescent fish, purple sea fans, and grouper. The National Park of the East is another of the great diving areas of La Romana with various and spectacular coral formations. Saona Island is a considerable attraction and more exciting for wreck divers as you can visit the sunken St. Georges barge.
Golf at La Romana
Golf is also very popular in La Romana, Dominica Republic with the Teeth of the Dog Course and the Casa de Campo. The resort offers a variety of opportunities for those that desire a golf vacation while experiencing all that La Romana has to offer.

For those looking for a holiday home, retirement property or for an investment this area of the Dominican Republic offers excellent opportunities and a well established infrastructure.
