Punta Cana
The Dominican Republic resort of Punta Cana is possible most famous for its beaches often described as the most beautiful in the world. At night Punta Cana comes alive with plenty of bars, discos or shows to visit. Although the night life starts early, party time really begins after midnight, it is then you will find the clubs and bars filled with every nationality, dancing to the traditional Dominican dance the Merengue or bachata as well as international dance music. If you are feeling lucky there is also the Casino. One can be found in most resorts or if there is not one, free transport may well be on offer to take you to one. Casinos are normally open from 4pm to 4am and offer all the normal games and slots but don't forget to take your passport.

Near to Punta Cana are 2 beaches which are very different because they are found on small islands. The first one is located on Isla Catalina. Even though it is a very small island - only 6 square miles - it has many special features: a superb coral reef which is perfect for scuba diving, an array of sand dunes and a mangrove swamp. Many tourists simply come here to relax well away from the more crowded beaches in the main resort.
The second is the beach on Isla Saona. This island is within the Parque Nacional del Este. The island is located very near the most south-easterly part of the Dominican Republic. Snow white beaches, sky reaching palms and clear blue water make this one of the Dominican Republic's most enchanting destinations.

Bavaro
Bavaro Beach is really an extension of the coastline from Punta Cana but has some of the most beautiful beaches with white soft sand, fringed with palm trees, and amazing clear aquamarine seas. Many of the beaches are protected by coral reefs making the sea close inshore calm and safe for bathing or enjoying the wide variety of water sports available.

This Bavaro stretch of beach quickly drew the attention of some of the major hotel groups who, recognising how attractive these beaches would be to their clientele, established high quality all inclusive resorts and hotels here including the Catalonia Bavaro Resort Punta Cana, Grand Paradise Bavaro Punta Cana, Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort, Iberostar Grand Hotel Bavaro and the Grand Palladium Bavaro Resort, to name just a few.
Initially there was virtually no other development in this area so guests were provided with every facility within the resort areas, however the attractiveness has not escaped the property developers and now there are plenty of opportunities to purchase apartments, villas or large mansions in this area many situated on, or near, one of the quality Golf Courses, of which there are now several, in this highly popular and incredibly beautiful part of the Dominican Republic.
