Other popular things to do in Santiago include a visit to the Cathedral of Santiago, the Tomas Morel Museum of Folkloric Art that has a collection of carnival masks, and the Monument a los Heroes de la Restauracion. This monument is locally known as the Monumento de Santiago and was designed by the architect Henry Gazón Bona and was completed in time to celebrate the Dominican Republic’s 100 years of independence. After the fall of the tyrannical rein of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo Molina the name of Monument was granted to the Heroes of the Restoration
